Yesterday, the first official trailer of Lightyear arrived, the new Pixar movie that will reach the cinemas in 2022 and that will focus on the iconic spatial guardian.
It has been 26 years since we met Buzz Lightyear at Toy Story, or at least a tremendously popular action figure based on the character.
Buzz has been (and it is) one of the main characters of the Toy Story franchise, in addition to provoking the animated series itself.
Now, the real character will see its history of origin told on the big screen, with Chris Evans lending voice to the character, instead of Tim Allen, who did the same at Toy Story and his aftermath.
Speaking with Fandango after the launch of Lightyear trailer, the director Angus McLane has spoken of influences (as well as the obvious) that Toy Story has had about the film.
The filmmaker highlights that the personality of Buzz Lightyear at Toy Story has been a fundamental pillar to build the history of the character: obsessed by the rules, brave and anxious adventure.
McLAN emphasizes where the personality of Buzz Lightyear has been one of the main troops in Toy Story, from the conviction that the doll was really the spacekeeper in the first until the Buzz himself had to convince another doll that both were toys.
For the rest, Angus McLane has not talked about greater references to the world of Andy toys in Lightyear, although some wink is quite likely.
Lightyear has its premiere date planned for June 2022, so we will know some more details of the film before the time comes to go to the cinema to see it.
Will it get to evoke that crazy essence from the character in Toy Story s first movie, when the figure was believed by the real lightyear buzz? Will he take him down to infinity and beyond?
