The fans of Magic: The Gathering who are also fans of League of Legends will be delighted to learn that these two franchises are found in a few days. Wizards of the Coast has just revealed to the players audience that there will be two new magic: The Gathering Secret Lair in a crossover with Riot Games. This event is part of Netflixs marketing for its success series Arcane: League of Legends.
The next two Drops of Secret Lair are secret lair X Arcane: Lands and Secret Lair X Arcane. They will be on sale from November 29th to December 23rd and will both be available in non-Foil and aluminum.
The first drop is a set of five basic lands, with locations in the cities of Faun and Plover, as described by the artistic team of Riot. Brandon Mao, the Product Manager for Arcane at Riot Games stated in an interview that Magic: The Gathering is deep and rich in history that they had no difficulty in finding cards that correspond to his themes and to his tones.
Two teams are fans of the work of the other, said Mao. I was a partnership with a lot of passion behind him.
The mission has always been clear: find the most enjoyable connections between our cards and their creative direction, added Mark Heaven, architect of products from Wizards of the Coast. RIOT sent us pictures and concepts that they think could work, and we sent them card ideas.
When a good concept settled in place, we said all: Yeah, thats it!, HEAVEN pursued. We knew we had it.
When Mao was asked if the cross could or may not occur in the other direction, with references to Magic: The Gathering appearing in the Riot projects, he could only answer: pas this time. Partnership is a Celebration of Arcane and the exciting moment that surrounds it, he said. Never say, though.
